Why we recommend getting Scanlon Leadership Network help. Here are some of the more common pitfalls you want to avoid!

Pitfall Examples:

US wage and hour laws place certain restrictions on how a bonus can be paid. Do you know these restrictions? We were recently contacted by a large Hospital that put in a gainsharing plan incorrectly. They now have hundreds of thousands of dollars of wage and hour liabilities!

Are you aware of the latest research on gainsharing plan success? That off-the-shelf gainsharing plan someone is trying to sell you could simply become a company sponsored lottery. People are happy when they make a bonus, but they don't know why they are receiving it. Do you want to spend money to reward random behavior?

What is the cost of mistakes? If you roll out your gainsharing plan in a big hurry and it doesn't work how will you make changes without making things worse?

Are you aware that some gainsharing plans could cause your company to pay bonuses when your company is losing money? How do you explain that to the owner/shareholders?

You establish teams. Now you decide to reward them with "Team Incentives." What happens when your teams start fighting among themselves? Your teamwork culture degenerates until people resent other teams, refuse to cooperate, and refuse to move to new team assignments.

You implement gainsharing for the production folks, suddenly your white collar employees are upset. Do you know why?

You promise gainsharing bonuses. Your business takes a downturn. People are demotivated when you need their motivation the most. What happened?

A consultant sends you a fancy brochure. How do you know if s/he is competent?

No one has a clue to how your business works. Where do you go to help them become business literate?

Supervisors don't know how to delegate or encourage participation and are undermining your team based process. How do you get them on-board?

You have a Strategic Plan, but no one in your organization seems to care about it. How do you cascade it through your organization?

You want to become a "Lean" organization, but no one seems committed to your vision of lean and some people actively resist your efforts. What went wrong?

Your leaders don't know how to listen. Where do you go to help train them in this critical skill?

You want your business leaders to care about the people who work in your organization. Where do you go to learn how to lead as a Servant Leader?

You would like to learn the "Best Practices" of good organizations. Where do you go?

You need to talk to a peer about a problem. Who do you ask?

You want to visit an organization to find out what really works and what doesn't from people who are using the ideas. Where do you go?
